PRINCE2 update to launch mid-2017

The update to PRINCE2 2017 is intended to make links between the framework clearer. It is also intended to bring PRINCE2 up to date, and in particular align with 2016’s PRINCE2 Agile.

Thynk expects the updated guidance and supporting exams to be launched in English by mid-2017, with further translations to follow. From that time until the end of the year, PRINCE2 customers have the option of taking either the current or the updated version of the exams.

How to get the new exam

If you already hold your PRINCE2 Foundation certificate, you already qualify for the 2017 update exam and you can take this by contacting Thynk Customer Services at

Exam difficulty

The 2017 update exams are expected to be marginally more difficult than the current versions.

Existing PRINCE2 Practitioners

There’s no change to this model and existing PRINCE2 Practitioner certifications remain valid until their expiry date. To renew your PRINCE2 Practitioner certification, you can either take the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam (as is currently the case today), or use your PRINCE2 programme membership.

The PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification is to become valid for two years – a decrease from the current five.
